La squadra olandese PDM, sostenuta da un gigante farmaceutico, era una forza formidabile nel gruppo dei professionisti e vantava una rosa di potenti corridori di classiche e di concorrenti di corse a tappe. Il loro kit grafico e audace spiccava in modo vivace sulle strade europee che dominavano.
