St Raphaël-Géminiani-Gitane was one of the most storied French squads of the early 1960s, powered by the legendary Jacques Anquetil during his extraordinary run of Grand Tour dominance. Backed by the famous apéritif brand St Raphaël and Gitane bicycles, the team became synonymous with French cycling pride, its riders lighting up the Tour de France, the Giro d'Italia, and the great classics of the era. That iconic yellow-toned jersey, adorned with bold red and blue lettering, was a fixture at the front of the peloton as Anquetil claimed consecutive Tour victories with a time-trialling prowess that left rivals in awe.
