Backed by the Superia bicycle manufacturer and the Marc soap brand — "zeep" and "savon" being the Dutch and French words for soap, a nod to Belgium's bilingual soul — the team rode through cobbled classics and grand tours alike. Their distinctive pale blue jersey with its clean horizontal stripes became a familiar sight on the roads of Flanders, worn by hard-nosed rouleurs who thrived in the rain and wind of Belgian spring. This was an era when cycling sponsorship came from everyday household brands, and riders were working-class heroes pedaling through mud for the pride of their local communities.
