Carpano was one of the great Italian sponsors of professional cycling during the late 1950s and early 1960s, bankrolling a squad that carried the prestige of Turin's famous vermouth house into the peloton. Under the Carpano banner, none shone brighter than the legendary Gastone Nencini, whose fearless descending and indomitable spirit carried him to victory at the 1960 Tour de France.
