BIC burst onto the professional peloton in 1967, bringing the bold orange livery of the famous pen and lighter company to the grandest stages of cycling. Under the leadership of directeur sportif Raphaël Géminiani, the team attracted none other than Jacques Anquetil and later Luis Ocaña, whose fearless climbing style made the bright orange jersey a symbol of pure audacity in the mountains. Ocaña's legendary duel with Eddy Merckx at the 1971 Tour de France remains one of the sport's most dramatic chapters, with the BIC colours blazing across Alpine passes in unforgettable fashion. The vibrant orange palette and clean graphic identity made BIC one of the most visually striking kits of the late 1960s and early 1970s, an era when professional cycling was as much about panache as it was about power.
