Salvarani was the kitchen manufacturer that bankrolled one of Italy's most celebrated squads throughout the 1960s and into the early 1970s, a team built around the extraordinary talents of Felice Gimondi. Under that pale blue banner, Gimondi became one of only a handful of riders to conquer all three Grand Tours, claiming victories at the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, and Vuelta a España with a grace and tenacity that defined a generation. The soft blue jersey with its bold lettering and proud Italian tricolore became a symbol of elegance in the peloton, instantly recognizable on mountain passes and sprint finishes alike. By 1972 the team was in its twilight years, but its legacy was already secure — Gimondi's rivalry with the great Eddy Merckx had produced some of the most thrilling racing the sport had ever witnessed.
