De Mercier Retro Wielerset met korte mouwen is een eerbetoon aan een van de meest legendarische fietsfabrikanten van Frankrijk en de legendarische samenwerking met bandenfabrikant Hutchinson. De Mercier-BP-Hutchinson ploeg droeg de driekleurige geest uit in decennia van professioneel pelotonracen, gesteund door oliegigant BP. Backed by BP petroleum and rolling on Hutchinson tyres, the squad was a fixture on the roads of France and beyond, embodying the spirit of an age when cycling sponsorship still had a distinctly artisanal, romantic character.
