Renault-Elf was the superteam of early 1980s cycling, a French powerhouse that married automotive ambition with sporting glory under the tactical brilliance of directeur sportif Cyrille Guimard. It was in these iconic white, yellow, and black colours that Bernard Hinault claimed two of his five Tour de France victories and launched devastating attacks that left rivals shattered on Alpine switchbacks. The partnership with Gitane cycles and Elf petroleum created one of the most recognisable kits in the peloton, a jersey that symbolised French pride and aggressive, uncompromising racing. Laurent Fignon would later inherit the team's leadership, adding his own Tour triumphs and cementing the squad's legendary status.
