KAS was the beloved Basque cycling team that lit up the peloton throughout the 1980s, backed by the Kaskol rainwear company and fuelled by fierce regional pride. Their striking blue and yellow livery became synonymous with aggressive climbing in the mountains, most memorably through the exploits of Sean Kelly, who wore these colours during a dominant stretch of classics victories, and later through Spanish riders who made the team a force in the Vuelta a España.
