KAS was one of the most beloved Spanish cycling teams of the 1960s through the 1980s, backed by a Basque soft drinks company and fueled by fierce regional pride. The squad produced some of Spain's finest stage race riders, including Sean Kelly during his formidable early years and the great climber Federico Bahamontes, who graced the team in its earliest incarnation.
