Histor-Sigma burst onto the professional peloton in the late 1980s as a bold Belgian outfit backed by the Histor paint company, and their kit was every bit as flamboyant as their racing ambitions. The vivid paint splashes along the jersey's lower half were a direct nod to their sponsor's trade, making it one of the most instantly recognizable designs in the bunch. Under the guidance of directeur sportif Walter Godefroot, the team attracted serious talent and made its presence felt in the Spring Classics and Grand Tours alike.
