Castorama burst onto the professional peloton in the late 1980s, quickly becoming one of the most recognizable squads in French cycling thanks to its bold blue-and-white striped kit and the unmistakable yellow branding of its home improvement sponsor. Under the leadership of directeur sportif Cyrille Guimard, the team nurtured some of the finest French talents of the era, most notably Laurent Jalavert in his early career and the brilliant Jacky Durand, whose swashbuckling breakaway style made him a fan favorite at the Tour de France and Paris-Roubaix.
