La Vie Claire burst onto the professional peloton in the mid-1980s as one of the most visually striking and culturally ambitious teams cycling had ever seen, with its iconic Mondrian-inspired geometric design conceived by fashion legend Bernard Tapie. Under the leadership of directeur sportif Paul Koechli, the squad became a dominant force, propelling Bernard Hinault to his fifth and final Tour de France victory in 1985 and then backing a young Greg LeMond to his first Tour triumph the following year. This particular set captures the later Wonder-Radar sponsorship era, when the jersey evolved into a vivid patchwork of color blocks and polka dots that paid homage to the various classification jerseys of the Tour de France. The bold presence of sponsors like Toshiba and Crédit Lyonnais alongside the La Vie Claire branding places this design squarely in that unforgettable period when cycling was becoming a global spectacle and team kits were becoming works of art.
