Super U–Raleigh burst onto the Tour de France stage in the late 1980s as one of the most colourful squads in the peloton, powered by French ambition and backed by the supermarket giant's unmistakable bold red "U" logo. The 1989 season was nothing short of legendary, coinciding with one of the greatest Tours ever ridden — the year Laurent Fignon and Greg LeMond battled to the final time trial on the Champs-Élysées. Riders like Laurent Fignon himself had worn the Super U colours, lending the kit an air of dramatic, near-mythic heartbreak and glory.
