Sporting Clube de Tavira carried the pride of the eastern Algarve into the Portuguese peloton, racing through sun-drenched coastal roads where the scent of salt air mingled with orange blossom. Their distinctive black and green colour scheme became a familiar sight in domestic stage races throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, a badge of regional identity for a small but fiercely dedicated club.
