La Vie Claire burst onto the professional cycling scene in 1984, bankrolled by the eccentric French businessman Bernard Tapie and styled with a bold Mondrian-inspired aesthetic that revolutionized team kit design. This striking pink variation pays homage to Bernard Hinault's magnificent 1985 Giro d'Italia campaign, where the legendary Breton wore the maglia rosa on his way to conquering the Italian grand tour. Hinault, known as "The Badger" for his fierce and combative racing style, cemented his place among cycling's all-time greats that year by achieving the rare Giro-Tour double. The race number 81 and La Gazzetta dello Sport branding evoke the pink pages of Italy's famous sporting newspaper, the very publication that lends its color to the Giro's leader's jersey.
