KAS was the beloved Basque cycling team that captured hearts throughout the 1980s and into the early 1990s, backed by a fruit juice cooperative from Vitoria-Gasteiz whose sunny yellow branding became one of the most recognizable kits in the peloton. Under the leadership of riders like Sean Kelly and later Miguel Indurain in his formative years, the team was a constant presence in the grand tours, with a particular flair for the mountainous stages that suited their Basque climbing pedigree. The vivid yellow and blue color scheme, later joined by the Canal 10 co-sponsorship, stood out brilliantly against Alpine and Pyrenean backdrops, a burst of optimism on even the grayest race days.
