IJsboerke-Warncke Eis was one of the most recognizable Belgian-German squads of the late 1970s and early 1980s, backed by two ice cream companies whose sweet sponsorship funded some seriously tough racing. Under the direction of team manager Walter Godefroot, the squad attracted talented riders and became a fixture in the Spring Classics and major stage races across Europe. The bright yellow jersey with its bold lettering and tricolor accents stood out vividly in the peloton, a rolling advertisement for frozen treats that became an unlikely icon of the era.
