Formaggio Primavera was one of those beloved semi-professional Italian squads that raced with more heart than budget, chasing glory through the sun-drenched strade of early 1970s amateur classics. Based out of a small caseificio in the Veneto, the team was backed by a local cheese producer whose passion for cycling matched his passion for aged provolone. The 1972 season was their finest hour, with a string of spirited performances across regional spring races — the primavera classics — that earned them a devoted following among tifosi who loved an underdog. The bold blue and white horizontal stripes became an instantly recognisable sight in the peloton, a flash of colour that signalled grit, camaraderie, and pure Italian style.
