SCIC Bottecchia was one of the great Italian squads of the late 1970s and early 1980s, carrying forward the proud legacy of Bottecchia bicycles — a marque forever linked to Ottavio Bottecchia, the first Italian to win the Tour de France in 1924. The team's clean white and black livery stood out in a peloton awash with colour, projecting an air of cool elegance that was unmistakably Italian. Riders like Wladimiro Panizza and Claudio Bortolotto wore these colours with distinction across the Giro d'Italia and the cobbled Classics.
