La Vie Claire stürmte Mitte der 1980er Jahre als eine der visuell revolutionärsten Mannschaften, die der Radsport je gesehen hatte, in das professionelle Peloton – ihr Trikot berühmt inspiriert von einem Gemälde Mondrians und finanziert vom Naturkost-Magnaten Bernard Tapie. Unter der taktischen Brillanz von Directeur Sportif Paul Koechli bescherte die Mannschaft Bernard Hinault seinen fünften und letzten Tour-de-France-Sieg 1985, gefolgt von Greg LeMonds historischem Triumph 1986 – dem ersten eines Amerikaners überhaupt.
